I understand WR, A. Pettis would not count against the Rams' 53 man roster limit while he is serving his 2 game suspension. But assuming the Rams want to keep Pettis, won't he first have to be on their initial 53 man roster before he starts serving his suspension, thus forcing the Rams to expose an additional bubble player to the waiver wire before they can then sign/re-sign a free agent to take Pettis's place on the roster? -

I expect the Rams to make good use of the waiver wire, since they're second in line (until Sept 25) on waiver claims based on last April's draft position. Obviously there has to be someone on waivers they like at a position of need. I'm sure if a right tackle they liked was released, the Rams would jump on that. But it's unlikely that will happen. I mean who in their right mind would release a tackle who could still play? The first round of cuts is less than a week away, we'll see what happens. There's nobody out here now that catches my eye. -

I'd like to see Richardsono get a shot in a preseason game working with the second-team offense. So far he's played with the 3s and 4s. Pead does seem nervous out there and indecisive. Keep in mind, his work in the first half against KC was with the Rams' second-team line working against KC's first-team defense. But certainly, the Rams aren't going to give up on Pead after two preseason games. -

Hard to tell at this point. It's not as if the Rams have had great return opportunties on either punt returns or kickoff returns in the preseason. I kind of think it will be Amendola on punt returns at the start of the season. (I looks like Janoris Jenkins is the top backup.) As for kickoffs, I think the Rams would like for it to be Pead. -
A.) Love Austin Davis, I'm calling him "The baby Tony Romo". Will the Rams award him a spot on the roster or risk slipping him through waiver wire on final 53 man roster? B.) Darryl Richardson appears to be progressing ahead of Isaiah Pead. Are the Rams satisfied with the backup RB situation or do they look elsewhere after the final cuts? C.) TE Mike McNeil looks real solid right now, ahead of Illinois Mike. From what you've seen should McNeil be the 2nd TE on the team? -
You know, with a lot of teams just keeping 2 QBs, Austin Davis could slip through and be signed to the practice squad. I know Thad Lewis went to Cleveland last year, but that's because of the Pat Shurmur connection as much as anything else. I'd like to see the Rams keep 3 QBs, because I too have liked what Davis has done this preseason. He really seems like a gamer, with good leadership qualities. -

Interesting situation here. He's not getting much run, that's for sure. In games, he's kind of been "tail end of the second team, but mainly third team." He looks healthy. I know there have been a couple of route mixups in practice that the coaches haven't liked. And they couldn't have been thrilled with him running that 4th-and-2 route only 1-yard deep. He had some very nice catches in practice Monday, however. -

I thought Dahl was very good against KC, bouncing back nicely from that busted coverage against Indy. He is a pretty good tackler, and I agree, his best work seems to be w/the play in front of him. But in terms of the range, I just wonder if the Rams don't really have 3 strong safeties among their veterans (Mikell, Dahl, Stewart). -

Yeah, so far _ and I underline SO FAR _ I like what I've seen from Dunbar and McIntosh. Do the Rams have a difference-maker there? Probably not. But it does look like an upgrade. Depth on the defensive line could be suspect. And I'd say safety play in general is a concern. -

You know, he was getting some work late last week with the startining offense, so I thought he might get some time with the 1s Saturday but that wasn't the case. He looks like he's moving around pretty well on the practice field. I still have to think Hoomanawanui's in the top 3 TEs. But could McNeill be making a run for the top 3? -

I don't think the rule has changed, but yes you can waive someone injured, and when they're healthy they can sign elsewhere or with their old team. But by rule the team that releases the player has to wait longer to re-sign him than with a new team. But yes, Alexander could be eligible to be re-signed if waived injured. -
