Jim, I am very excited about the upcoming season for the Rams. I really like the hiring of Jeff Fisher and the new personal. However, I am really concerned that our offensive line is way below average. I thought that would be the first thing that Coach Fisher would have addressed. What are your thoughts ? -
@Phil The key obviously is both tackle spots, where Saffold must revert to his rookie form and Smith must stay heathly. Dahl at RG and Wells at C should be fine, although Wells probably will be brought about slowly following his spring knee surgery. There are a zillion candidates at left guard, and the Rams seem confident they'll find a starter among those guys. -

-
Unless there's a surprise, the only possibility might be C Scott Wells, who's coming off strping knee surgery and missed most of the OTAs/minicamp. TE Michael Hoomanawanui (knee) has been cleared to play and actually will start out early with the rookies to get acclimated. -

Difficult to say, and I'm not saying the guy is Vince Lombardi. But Jeff Fisher is a proven commodity. He enters the 2012 season tied for third (w/Tom Coughlin in career victories among active coaches with 142. And even without Gregg Williams, he's got what looks to be a good experienced staff. -

30 is a pretty ambitious number. In the 17 prior seasons that the Rams have been in St. Louis, their lowest sacks allowed total was 33 in '99 Super Bowl championship season and 34 in 2010 with lots of short passes under offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. Even if the Rams end up with a run-oriented more conservative attack, I don't know if the Rams can keep it to 30 sacks allowed. They allowed 55 last season. -

What's the deal with Brandon Gibson? To me, he's a JAG that cannot separate against man coverage. Yet Tony Softli says that he's looked really good this offseason. He sort of predicted Gibson, Amendola And Smith as the top three (at least for now) ... no disrespect meant, but how pedestrian would that be ... -
Steve Smith started to come around the final couple weeks of the spring practice period. I agree with your point that Gibson doesn't show a consistent ability to separate. Quick and Givens may not be ready to start on opening day. But don't sleep on Greg Salas. He looked good in the spring, and was getting work on the outside. -

for whatever reason, I'm optimistic for this season. Throw out last year! Sophomore slumps, injuries, mcdaniels offense with no offseason, desparation signings of washed up free agents are four very real reasons, not excuses, why last season went so badly. The rams were 7-9 just the year before with a rookie and no threat at receiver. I say 9-7 or 8-8 this season. -
